We’ve talked about CRM’s and how these tools can help take your business to the next level. But, how do you know when you should start using them? Won’t using them seem like you’re a home chef buying professional-grade equipment? It sounds funny, but that’s a valid argument! How do you make sure that using a CRM is worth time and money? Don’t worry, because that’s what our CRM expert, Don Ross, will help us out with!
The points below are from the sixteenth episode of the Real Estate JAM, where Don talks about how he discovered real estate investing, how he built a CRM without a computer science degree, what CRM’s are (and what they could do for your business), drip campaigns, and the importance of keeping your network in check. If you want the whole experience, tune in to the full episode on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts!
[Disclaimer: Don talks mostly about Beast Mode CRM, a tool that he runs for investors. As you read through this article, take a mental note that the same principles could apply to other tools. Don does say that when looking for CRM tools, you have to find the one you like. If you hate what you’re using, you need to find another one since you’ll be using it consistently!]
The Deal with Spending on Tools
Paid CRM tools like Beast Mode CRM are designed for investors that are doing a couple of deals (or more) a month. And if you want us to define what “couple” means, that’s two or three.
If you’re choosing between paying for a CRM tool and marketing, you’re still definitely NOT at a point to pay for a CRM – do your marketing first! You have to be at a point in your business that paying for a customer relationship management tool won’t kill your business. Consistently getting two or three deals a month ensures that your profits won’t get hammered down by cashing out on an instrument to make work easier (as the work is bound to get more challenging at this point).
Does this mean that those who can’t spend on tools don’t have hope? If you’re one of them, don’t worry! Don hasn’t forgotten about you. Beast Mode CRM has a PAID version that’s mostly automated, but there’s also a FREE version that you can request from them! It’s manually operated, but it’s a good starting point. Whenever you’re ready, you can always bump up and jump to the automated version.
It’s Not Only About the Money, But Also Time
Money’s one thing, but time is another one you need to factor in. Melissa asked an interesting question to Don during the podcast, “How user-friendly is it for somebody who might not be really tech-savvy?” Like with any new software tool, there’s going to be a learning curve or a specific time frame before you get used to it. Like if you bought a new phone, it takes some time for you to understand its features and use it according to your preferences. (And, it also takes a while to know what you want from the device!)
For Beast Mode CRM, Don says it takes the average user about two weeks to learn. But you won’t be limited to just fiddling around with the tool. You’d also have opportunities to get on a call with the team to ask questions and join Facebook groups to talk to the community! Remember, you have the entire internet community at your disposal to help you out.
So, do you need to use a CRM tool now? It’s highly recommended if you already know what to use it for. However, newer investors who have just hatched from their eggs still might not have a clue yet on how to use them. It really depends on your situation. At least, if you want to give it a shot, there are free tools out there to use!
