Finding Success in Real Estate by Identifying Your Strengths and Learning From Others

Join JD, Annabel, and Melissa in this episode of the Real Estate JAM with their guest, Luke Anderson. They talk about efficiency in finding success for your business by identifying your strengths and learning from others. Real estate life is not all sunshine and rainbows, compared to what one might see on social media. How can you make sure that you’re always at the top of your game? Luke shares effective the strategies he uses and principles he upholds to masterfully juggle all the responsibilities among his various businesses and projects, including real estate!

Put Yourself in the Right Position
Because Luke is involved in multiple unrelated business ventures, he’s learned to put himself where he can provide the best value possible. In every company he’s worked with, he observes the tasks required, assesses his strengths, and chooses to get involved in the ones where his skills would be used to the highest potential. If you follow this principle, you’re going to have more bandwidth to take over the jobs that push the needle the most. As Luke says. “If you’re trying to scale your business, you need to move yourself out of those lower-level tasks, even if you like doing them.”

Disovering Your Superpower
Knowing your strength starts with the process of elimination. For Luke, that means he avoids work that he’s not good at, tasks he doesn’t like, or those that don’t drive as much progress for the business. You could use the same thought process in the way you work. If there are too many things to do, you could list the objectives to complete and slowly cross out what doesn’t work for you and delegate (or automate) the rest.

Just in case you can’t figure out what you’re good at, you can consult your family, friends, or colleagues that know how you think and act. Additionally, you can take a DISC test and assess your strengths.

Of course, you might have to do everything at the start, but you can still apply the same principle. Do you really have to work on things that won’t drive the business revenue right now? For example, spending a few months on just planning for the name of your company is a massive waste of time compared to using those months to build healthy relationships with potential clients and partners.

Getting Guidance Gives Growth
Besides taking to look at yourself and seeing what you can do for the business, it might be useful to see what other people are doing. Joining a mastermind, like Luke and our hosts, may give you the boost you need to improve with the help of coaching. Not only do you get direct access to experts, but you also get an opportunity to develop relationships with your peers in the industry. Seeing other perspectives and angles in tackling various problems can provide ideas for your concerns in the present and the future.

Just knowing about that one unique trick from someone could turn your life around for the better! Who knows? That tip might be in the episode. If you’re interested, you can listen to it

About Luke Anderson:
Luke grew up in Billings, MT and was homeschooled all the way through his primary school years. He completed college at the age of 20 with a degree in political science (after already passing a bill into law at the age of 17).

He is a car enthusiast, experienced public speaker, lefse (Traditional Norwegian food) addict, and a pro at dad jokes! Luke is very active in the gym. Focusing on what he calls functional strength. Basically, a hybrid of power-lifting and CrossFit. But don’t worry, he doesn’t talk about the gym ALL the time.

Luke has founded or helped start several businesses over the years. He has always had an entrepreneurial spirit! When he’s not running his businesses or coaching others on mindset, he’s probably having a Nerf gun war with his four sons.
