Realize That You Have a F’ed Up Mind

It’s easy to point at other people and say they’ve messed up. You can quickly tell if someone’s stuck in their minds and have closed themselves out of different perspectives. But to do that to ourselves, that’s another story. We don’t even know that there’s something wrong with our own minds! And that’s the first thing we have to deal with.

Realize that you have a f’ed up mind. Almost everyone’s ruined by our society, teachers, parents, and even our own experiences! How do you do that? Maybe you can observe your decision-making processes and judge yourself as you would other people. (Yes, we shouldn’t judge people, but you get the point.) Do you make rational choices? You won’t believe how many weird decisions you make when you observe yourself!

The next step is doing something about our messed-up minds.

 

Manifestation – It’s Not as Woo-Woo as it Sounds!

The idea of manifestation is that your thoughts eventually drive results. Initially, your thoughts create your feelings. From there, your feelings create your actions, then your actions create your results.

You have to start with your thoughts. Others purely focus on actions without understanding the idea behind them, and that’s why they get burnt out. That’s why it’s important to realize first that something wrong in us needs to be fixed.

When new investors ask questions during meetups, they’re always focused on knowing the tricks, the numbers, or the hacks to succeed without ever knowing how and why they work. “How do you talk to a seller? What do I say? What contracts do I use?” All these are good questions, but you won’t get that far if this is your only guiding light. Why are you asking these questions in the first place? You probably want to generate the best results in the fastest time possible. This thought then makes you impatient and will likely lead to a poor outcome. Business takes patience.

Instead, try understanding the business as a whole. Ask more of those “why” questions. “Why should I say this instead to sellers? Why does this contract work better than others?” This line of questioning comes from a mindset of trying to get a grasp of the entire situation rather than focusing on one part.

It’s the same exact thing we deal with in our everyday lives. If a specific app on our phones isn’t working, we just close the app and re-open it again. Usually, it works. However, when the usual trick doesn’t work, we get upset. But if you had a better understanding of how phones and apps work, then you’d have a more level-headed response and might even have alternative options to choose from. “Maybe I can reinstall the app instead. Perhaps this app needs internet connectivity, and I’m not connected at the moment. It’s probably a new glitch from a recent update.” In real estate terms, not every technique works for all sellers and not all contracts for everything. Sometimes, they’d depend on your circumstances.

Thinking this way leads to you being patient because you’d know why things, good or bad, are happening. When things don’t work out, you’re not going to be as upset because you know what’s going on. You have to equip yourself with the right mindset first in order to get the right results.
